Nuxit® is a biodegradable biomaterial made from waste walnut shells. The innovative circular material is currently used to make toys and baby products. It serves as a great alternative to thermoplastic and petroleum-derived materials.
Nuxit® is derived from waste nut shells discarded by the food industry. It is a natural material that does not contain synthetic or toxic binders. It breaks down without intensive processing and can be simply planted. When in contact with microorganisms, it biodegrades in 4-5 months and can also be reintegrated into the manufacturing operation at the end of its life. Afterlife plan is 100% biodegradable, it can be planted, thus providing nutrients to the soil.
The material technical properties were tested with tensile, hardness and breakage tests in the laboratory. The material has high breakage resistance value and it is warm and soft on touch, which are some of the key characteristics for baby product materials.
Nuxit® material can be easily reshapable with reaching melting temperature without losing any material properties. There is a possibility to engrave a surface with a laser or CNC machine. The material is clenable with water and desinfectant.
